We denounce violence: BDP leaders

President Barzani's meeting with BDP leader Ahmad Turk was marked by a mutual commitment to peace and democracy.

Ahmed Turk and his accompanying delegation requested to open a representation office in Erbil, and also referred to their newly opened representation offices in Brussels and Washington DC. In addition, the delegation proposed the idea of holding a Kurdish Conference in Erbil, stating “We want to hold this Conference to serve peace and democracy."

“We denounce violence and support every single step that serves peace and democracy” said the President. “I hailed the initiative taken by the Justice and Development Party concerning the Kurdish question and any Kurdish Conference has to aim at peace and democracy only and not alliance against anyone,” added the President.

Both the President and Ahmed Turk stressed peace and democracy is the only way forward to deal with the Kurdish question.
